Welcome to the City of Augusta, Maine Fire Department Web Site. 

Department Profile

The Augusta Fire Department is comprised of a staff of 42 full time firefighters and paramedics housed in three (3) stations. It is a full service department that provides not only the obvious function of fire suppression, but is also charged with numerous other prevention and protection tasks. These tasks include emergency medical response including inter-facility transfer; public information; fire safety inspections; public education; fire training; disaster management;  water, extrication and rope rescue service; fire alarm; communications; as well as facility, apparatus and equipment maintenance. EMS is also provided to the surrounding communities of Manchester, Hallowell and Chelsea by contract. 

The Fire Department responds to approximately 7,000 calls each year, of which over 4,000 are EMS related including inter-facility transfers.
